guido con MALATESTA

Guido Preparata is an independent writer, researcher, and Chief Editor of Ad Triarios. He holds a PhD in Political Economy and an MPhil in Criminology, and has taught worldwide. Now based in Umbria, Italy, he explores history’s darker side through his writing and publishing.

Born in Boston, MA in 1968, I was raised in the USA, Italy and France.

I hold a B.S. in Economics from the Libera Università per gli Studi Sociali in Rome (LUISS, 1992); a Master’s degree in Economics and a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, 1996, 1998). Further graduate and undergraduate coursework in applied mathematics, economic history, and international economics was completed at Stanford University, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and the London School of Economics (LSE). In 2011, I also obtained an MPhil in Criminology from Cambridge University (UK).

I taught Political Economy at the University of Washington from 2000-2008, and in 2005 I was a Fulbright Scholar in International Relations to the Middle East (University of Amman, Jordan).

I taught Criminology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (Vancouver, Canada, 2012), and then went on to the Pontifical Gregorian University, where I taught Economics, Sociology, and Criminology (Vatican City, 2012-2017); in 2017 I was awarded a Fellowship in cultural anthropology by the Foreign Ministry of Taiwan (Taipei).

Other work experiences in the 90’s include research positions at think-tanks (Electric Power Research Power Institute, Palo Alto California, and the Bank of Italy, Rome, Italy), as well as teaching mathematics for middle and high school (Los Angeles Unified School District, 2019-2022).

In 2022 my wife and children and I moved to Umbria, Italy where we now happily write, study, restore our ancient home, and tranquilly reside.

I presently work as an independent writer, researcher, and Chief Editor of my publishing house, Ad Triarios. If you’re curious and want to check out the dark side of history, click that link and hold on.
